February Snippets

It’s the end of February, so we’re coming atcha with another monthly roundup video!

This month I’ve been out and about in town with my pals, and then I was invited to a ball in Stratford, so I visited one of my best friends at Warwick University.

So here’s my little roundup and collection of images from the past month!

10 Things That Make Me Happy

Who doesn’t love a big ol’ dose of happiness? I saw posts like this floating around on a couple of blog post idea lists, and I thought it sounded like fun, and a little way for you guys to get to know me better. So today I’m sharing 10 things that make me happy with you guys!

backgrounder

Big groups of people being brought together

I mean most people that know me well will be able to tell you just how hilarious this fact is. I really love seeing people being brought together by things, be it through events such as music festivals, going to see a theatre show, or joining in a holi-themed festival. My own brother can make me cry by saying the word “crowds” to me. So yeah, it’s kind of a huge flaw in my otherwise very harsh, unloving and cold mystique.

Upside down kittens

I mean, who isn’t brought to near-tears by a cat who has fallen asleep and rotated their head completely upside down? Just me? Well you guys are missing out, like forreal.

My Friends

This does sound really cheesy and cliche, but I swear it; I have the greatest, most supportive friends in the entire universe. They always seem to be right there when I need them, with the best advice and shoulders to cry on. I owe a lot to them all. Soppiness.

Chicken Nuggets

Obvious. Offer to buy me chicken nuggets and we’re kinda best pals for life.

Seeing the moon

I just seem to find seeing the moon wherever I am quite comforting. No matter how far from home I am, no matter what happens each day, the moon will always come back. Plus it’s really gorgeous, like seriously we should all appreciate it more.

Cute/fluffy socks

These are something I seem to how low key-collected over the past few years. They are just so cosy and lovely, and there are endless pretty and insanely cute designs, so you appreciate them on both a comfort, and aesthetic level too.

Rilakkuma (& Korilakkuma) (also Pusheen tho) ((and Gudetama omg))

Aren’t all of these guys just insanely adorable though? Look at Rilakkuma and tell me you don’t want to smile. LOOK AT HIM. I think I have a very soft spot in my heart for Korilakkuma because I pronounce it like Corinne-akkuma in my head, so we’re like soul mates or something. And Pusheen is a cat, so what’s not to love? (Gudetama is like my lazy spirit animal/egg)

Vintage cameras

I’ve recently discovered a deep love for not only owning vintage cameras, but learning how to properly use them, it must feed into my passion for photography and general composition of shots.

Big Band music

Perhaps feeding into my love for the general 1950’s and vintage style, I do love hearing a big band or orchestra performing live. In fact, I actually think it feeds into my weird thing with crowds and people being brought together, gotta be honest.

Deadpool

No wait, Ryan Reynolds. No it’s Deadpool. Ryan. Deadpool… Reynolds. Both, oh my dear god.

That’s it for my quick list of 10 things that make me happy, let me know in the comments some unique things that make you happy too!

A Whole Year Of Blogging!

Today is officially one whole year since my very first post!

IMG_0978
My only regret is that the banner does not fill the frame.

I didn’t know what type of post I should do for today, especially as it is a little bonus Saturday post, so instead of rambling on about how happy I am that I stuck with this for a whole year, or about how ridiculously grateful I am to have you guys reading, I figured I would share some blog recommendations!

Obviously I want to shoutout The Girl Gang, as without this awesome community I wouldn’t have met so many awesome supportive people.

So naturally, following on from The Girl Gang I want to give a heck-tonne of blog love to it’s creator, Jemma from Dorkface! She works insanely hard, and is bright and positive the entire time!

Then there’s Charlie from Charlie CP, who runs an absolutely gorgeous blog, and shares my love of all things lilac/lavender and silver. Her pictures are always so gorgeous, and she keeps it super real!

Olivia from Olivia Cheryl is my inspiration for never letting the need to have a ‘niche’ get to you, because if there’s something she wants to write about, she just does it! I also love her openness and honesty.

Here’s Soy enjoying the festivities

Fii from Little Miss Fii is my ultimate go-to for when it comes to Korean beauty, and all-around gorgeous lifestyle and funny posts. I love her style and attitude, she’s an absolute doll.

Holly from The Kitty Luxe has some of the most gorgeous makeup and outfit-inspiration posts that I have ever seen. (Plus her hair is just so pretty, like how does she do that?!)

Rebecca from WavesOfThoughts is single-handedly one of the most positive and supportive bloggers out there, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know her more, she’s just so lovely!

And Corinne from SkinnedCarTree, if you are in need of blogging help, or a super-real-no-holds-barred review, then Corinne is your girl. Her posts are so informative and helpful that she herself is my ultimate guide to this blogging thing. (And yes, we can bond about all of the pros and cons of having our name)

These guys are all so amazing, I would recommend checking out and following their blogs right away! (After all, they did all pay me to say that… jk!)

So here is it is, we all knew it was inevitable, thank you guys so freakin’ much for reading my blog, whether you’ve been here for almost a year now, or if this is the first post you’ve read, I am so grateful that you’re here.

January Snippets

That’s right, you sensed it coming, we’re at the end of another month!

This year, I decided that instead of strictly beauty favourites with some added extras, I’m going to post a monthly round-up, with a video and some stills from particular events throughout the month.

One of my favourite days from the past month was a day I spent with one of my fabulous pals, so I’ve collated some pictures from that day here. (And how awesome is it that every picture I took seems to have a pink-hue too!)

This month I wanted to venture out a little bit more, so I decided to do some little things like learning the piano, and as I miss a studying religion and philosophy, I also searched for some books on the topic. I’ve travelled a lot, walked a lot, spent a lot of time by one of my favourite places, the sea, and I also won an awesome giveaway from Rebecca at Wavesofthoughts!

As you guys might be able to tell, I’m going to make posts like this a monthly series, but I still don’t have a proper name for it! So right now I’m just calling it ‘snippets’, if you can think of a name please let me know in the comments!

What was your favourite thing from the past month?

Here We Go Again

Hey guys, I’m back!

I decided to take just over a week off blogging, because I was over-thinking a lot of things, and through all of those internal conflicts, I’d forgotten why I was writing.

Obviously the main motivation behind this blog is my crazy passion for everything that it’s compiled of, writing, photography, trying new things, and telling other people about things that I love. But with pressure I kept putting on myself, I needed to know that no one’s world was going to stop turning if I stopped posting for a little bit.

Over time I’d gotten into a rut. So many of my posts started to feel ‘the same’; not as what everyone else was doing, but ‘the same’ things that I’d always written about. I want each of my posts to be something new, and not just another post about how much I love Collection’s Extreme Felt-liner.Back From That Blogging Break I Took (1)Now don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to partake in Favourites, and to be honest, just about any ‘tag’ or trending topic that I want to write about. Because if there is something I want to write about, I’m going to write about it.

But I can’t ignore the fact that this blog is also for you guys, because if it was just for me I may as well write a personal journal and not stress myself out about taking pictures from every angle, editing and getting a post up on time.

That’s just it too, I actually enjoy the pressure that comes along with a blog, it gives you a purpose to improve and nurture your passions.

Back From That Blogging Break I Took (2)Isn’t it hilarious that this post is actually kind of rambly and doesn’t really have an obvious direction?

Ok the actual point of this post was to give you guys something of a new introduction to me and my blog.

So hey guys, I’m Corinne, I’m 20 and this is my lifestyle blog.

So hey again to everyone that has been here for a while, and hello to anyone who has just found my blog! I hope you stick around, feel free to give it a lil’ follow, you can also follow me on Twitter, stay up to date on Facebook, and check out my Instagram. I really want you guys to get to know me, the gal behind this blog.

I also always want to know what type of things you guys would like to read about, so just drop me a comment if you’d like to request something, or if you’d like to collab send me an email at corinnebygrave@gmail.com

SHOUTOUTS

IMG_0352Hey guys! Lately I’ve been absolutely loving discovering new blogs, and sharing my love of fellow bloggers, even if it’s just through a really quick #FF! So today, I thought I’d dedicate this entire post to you guys. My readers, and fellow bloggers.

Since my giveaway has officially closed, I still wanted there to be a fun ongoing event on my blog, so today I’m officially kicking off a shoutout week! For the next 7 days, I will be giving a daily shoutout to a fellow online creator/blogger, on my Facebook page, Twitter and blog posts.

If you’d like a shoutout, all you have to do is drop me a little comment below with a link to your blog, or ‘like’ this post and each day for the next week, I’ll pick someone for the day!

Thank you guys so much for reading, I know I get ridiculously soppy and weird about it, but I really do appreciate it, you guys make this whole thing even more awesome than I ever thought it would be.

I hope you guys liked this random post, don’t forget to stay tuned for Blogmas, which officially kicks off here on Tuesday December 1st!

20 Things I’ve Learned In 20 Years

Hey guys! I don’t know if you knew this, (jk we all know I put a countdown in my sidebar, we all knew it was happening) but on the 24th of October, it was my 20th birthday! So naturally, with all of my accumulated wisdom over these vast 20 years, I thought today I’d share with you guys 20 of my top things that I’ve learned in the past 20 years.20 Things I've Learned In 20 Years

  1. Say yes to opportunities as often as you can, you won’t believe how much it’ll change your life and general outlook.
  2. Wear clothes that make you feel amazing, regardless of what anyone thinks or what you think they’ll think. Your confidence will shine through.
  3. You need bad times. Withouth these, there would be no contrast to the upliftingly insane great times.
  4. Remember number 3 when it’s one of those days. Think how much better things now have the opportunity to get.
  5. Life really does speed up. My brother explained to me that this is because the ratio changes as we get older. For example, when you’re 20, that year is 1/20th of your life, but when you’re 10, it’s only 1/10th. This might make little sense, but seriously, life speeds up.
  6. Walk. Whenever you can.
  7. Ask questions. You’d rather feel nervous for a second, and then worry-free because you have your questions answered, than stressed because you don’t know what’s happening or expected of you.
  8. Forgive, forget, move on. It’s so much better for you mind, health and stress lines!
  9. Celebrate. Celebrate occasions, events, achievements, people. Just freaking celebrate everything.
  10. Say yes to yas. This really links into number 9, but I’ve found that you feel so much better in yourself if you say yas to other people. If someone is wearing something outrageously fabulous, say YAAAAAS GURL. If someone overcomes adversity, say YAAAAAS. Out loud, or in your head, it’ll give you a great mentality.
  11. Having a bath with a bubble bar, a body scrub, face mask, then skincare routine and a mani/pedi is at least a fortnightly thing.
  12. “We’re all fighting hard battles, so you’ve gotta be kind.” Remember that everyone has their own life, and you might only know what’s on the very surface. Be kind, and understanding.
  13. The world isn’t against you.  People are nice. Nothing is ever the end of the world.
  14. Don’t ever tell yourself no, or “I can’t”.
  15. Talk to your siblings. No one has a closer personal experience of your life than they do.
  16. Accept that there are things that you cannot control. Once you accept this, life will become so much simpler.
  17. Nothing is permanent. Not one thing. There is no one thing that is sacred, everything is subject to change and disappear. Appreciate the now.
  18. Love. Keep your heart open. Adopt, live, give, and just love.
  19. Heartache really is healed by the sea. Time and the sea, helps towards healing everything.
  20. Don’t allow people to change your own perspective. If you think you’re good at something, but someone else doesn’t, it doesn’t help you in any way to adopt what they think. As David Foster Wallace puts it, “You’ll worry less about what people think about you when you realize how seldom they do” Quite simply, we’re all so concerned with ourselves, and what other people think of us, that we are all too busy to actually think about other people.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Let me know if you did in the comments below, also feel free to drop any lessons you’ve learned there too, it’s always lovely to share experiences.

An Evening Out

Hey guys recently I went out for an evening meal, and I took some snaps, so today I’m sharing them with you! Dinner Evening Out Dinner Evening Out Dinner Evening Out Dinner Evening Out Dinner Evening Out Dinner Evening Out Dinner Evening Out Dinner Evening Out

I hope you guys enjoyed this little photo diary, have you been up to anything fun recently?

Sweater Weather Tag

Fotor01011221215I’ve been nominated by the lovely Rebecca from Waves Of Thought to do the Sweater Weather tag, so today I’m sharing my answers with you guys!

Favourite Candle Scent?

My favourite year-round scent is definitely Fresh Linen, it can’t be beaten! But particularly for fall, I love cosy scents, ironically like Bath & Body Works’ ‘Sweater Weather’!

Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate?

I love all three, but for this time of year, hot chocolate all the way!

What’s the best fall memory that you have?

Everything. Every memory. Every year oh my word. From Christmas, to Fireworks night, Halloween and Thanksgiving. But if I had to pick just one I’d say my Halloween when I was 8, because that’s when I got Tabs and Ginge.

Which make-up trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged eyeliner?

Winged eyeliner all of the way. Though I do adore dark lips, I wear winged eyeliner with almost every makeup look I do.

Best Fragrance for fall?

I like fruity and floral fragrances all year long, so anything like Katy Perry’s Meow or Ari by Ariana Grande.

Favourite Thanksgiving food?

Honey. Roasted. Vegetables.

What is autumn weather like where you live?

Autumn weather where I live is mostly perfect, and quite picturesque really. Crispy orange leaves on the floor, bright mornings and beautiful sunsets. But I can’t hide the fact that it does rain, both heavily and annoyingly drizzly.

Most worn sweater?

I don’t really wear a lot of sweaters, but I do like wearing oversized ones for lounging about the house.

Football games or jumping in leaf piles?

Jumping in a pile of leaves, for sure!

Favourite type of pie?

I know this question is intended to be a fruity/autumnal pie, but all I can think of is chicken pie, so we’re going with that.

What song really gets you into the fall spirit?

Since Katy Perry’s Prism came out this time last year, I guess I really associate that album with this time of year especially. But I’m a sucker for Christmas music, I’ll probably start blasting that on Nov 1st…

Is pumpkin spice worth the hype?

This year is actually the first year I’ve experienced pumpkin spice, and I can safely say, yes it is. It takes a little getting used to, but it is perfect for fall.

I nominate:

Karen from Confetti & Curves

Egypt from A Girl Named Egypt

Jessica from Miss Influential

And that’s it! I hope you guys enjoyed this post, I certainly did because I’m obsessed with his time of year!
