A Day Through A Lense & EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENTS

I contemplated waiting until the end of this post to share my news with you guys, but it has been over a month in the works and I just can’t wait any longer, so I’m opening this post with it!

I’m going to be daily blogging for the whole month of June! AND I’ve only gone and set myself up for a weekly podcast series for this month too!

Obviously the posts are going to be going up every single day this month, and each Friday post is going to be the podcast. The podcasts are going to feature myself and my friend Gemma, as we talk to you guys, answer your questions, play music and just chat like friends do! (The podcast posts start on Friday, May 10th and continue until the 1st of July)

So with that exciting news finally out there, let’s kick off this awesome month with a fun day in the life post. I recently had a lovely day out, and I took some snaps throughout the day, so I thought I’d compile a little photo diary of that day, I hope you enjoy it!IMG_2565IMG_2566IMG_2572IMG_2577IMG_2578IMG_2584IMG_2590IMG_2592

I hope that you enjoyed this photo diary style post, let me know if you’d like to see more of these!

What have you been up to lately?

May Snippets

Here we are again! Another month, another snippets vlog! This month was a super fun one for me, because I got to see a lot of my good pals, and as you see, my friend Hannah and I went to the cinema to see Captain America Civil War, (fun fact, I actually watched it with my family again the next day!)

I also decided that the reign of pink hair had to come to an end, as the colour had faded quite drastically over the last month, and I wanted to go for a darker brown again.

Myself and my friend were also fortunate enough to be invited to an Alice In Wonderland themed event with Urban Decay, in celebration of their 2016 Alice In Wonderland collection. You can check out my round up of the event HERE, and an in depth review of the new palette HERE. We were given tasty treats, alongside a tutorial with the new products, and an awesome goody bag!

I also had another brand new experience, as I got to work with an amazing company, Boutique of Molly, in reviewing 2 of their gorgeous dresses.

Then the roadtrip fun kicked in. With my University, we got to go to BT Sports Studios in London to watch the UEFA Europa League Final, Liverpool V Sevilla live, and then be a part of the live studio audience for BT’s The Football’s On! That was a really unique and exciting experience, the outcome may have been less than chill, but it was a great experience!

And finally I got to end my month with one of my bestest pals, Bella! We got to spend an unplanned 24 hours together, and it was a roller coaster of hilariousness.

So without further explanation, here’s my May Snippets! I hope you guys had a great month, be sure to let me know what your favourite moment in the video is!

What did you get up to this month? Tell me in the comments!

Nail Varnish Collection

Hey guys! For a really long time now, I’ve enjoyed painting my nails. Whether I’m doing an intricate nail art design, or just an all over colour, I think that doing your nails can be incredibly theraputic and really change up your look and mood.

So naturally, through my love of doing my nails, I’ve acquired quite the nail varnish collection. I am quite happy with the size of it, and I’ve definitely found my favourites through growing my collection.

This post is quite picture-heavy, so I didn’t want to do an in-depth review of every single shade, so instead I’ve just listed the brands and shades, and I’ll do in-depth reviews of any particular brands that you guys would like to read, just let me know in the comments which ones you’d like me to review.

Tips For Flat-Lay Photography

If you enjoy taking photos, at some point you might find yourself stuck in a bit of a rut. Either your images aren’t looking the way you want them to, or you’ve gotten caught up in comparing your images to other peoples, and that can stifle your confidence.

So today I’m sharing 6 tips, focussing on flat-lay photography, on how to improve your images!FLATLAY PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS 2Lighting | Try getting as close to natural lighting as possible, I know it’s always one of the first things to be mentioned when it comes to any style of photography, but it really does make a difference. If you can afford to invest in lighting then you’re lucky to be able to take your photos at any point during the day, but if you’re not, I’d recommend taking your pictures in the very middle of the day, as if you take them early in the morning, they will have an orange/yellow hue, and too late in the afternoon and they’ll be blue-toned. Taking your pictures at around noon also means that you reduce the amount of shadows in the image.

Arrangement | Always try and take images with the products in different arrangements, as this gives you a lot more options for the final post. I’ve found on quite a few occasions that what I liked in front of me, didn’t really translate on camera, so if you rearrange your objects in a few different ways, you won’t be limiting yourself.

Steadiness | I’ve also found that when I’m taking photos, I tend to hold my breath, as I think that it steadies me, and ensures that you don’t have to take as many pictures, because you don’t have blurry ones where you’ve moved slightly.FLATLAY PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS 3Tricks | Blu tack! The day I learnt that you can keep lipsticks and mascaras and anything that is likely to roll, from rolling by securing them down with a little bit of Blu tack on the underneath, was life changing. It saves so much time and stress of positioning your products, only for them to slightly roll out of frame.

Props | If you’re finding your images to be too plain or boring, you can always throw in some fun or relevant props to give more life to your picture. They can even be fun to put altogether for posts that don’t necessarily have a product or ‘thing’ for you to photograph!

Fun | The most important thing about any images that you’re sharing online is to keep your unique style and character in them. Sometimes bloopers and funny shots can be the perfect one to add to a post, people don’t always want to see an aesthetically perfect image, they want to get to know you too!

Those are 6 quick flat-lay photography tips that I wanted to share with you guys, I hope some of these have inspired you with your own photography! Let me know in the comments any tips you might have, and we can all help each other out!

Damaged Hair Tips

Hey guys! As some of you may know, over the past few months, I’ve dyed my hair ombre, then pink, then ombre again, and finally back to dark brown. Obviously this excessive amount of bleaching meant that the ends of my hair were pretty fried, so I had to alter my haircare routine to help revive it.

So today I’m sharing my tips on how to combat and assist damaged hair.

Trims | I know, it’s something of a taboo to mention nowadays, but honestly, after you’ve bleached your hair, I think it’s so beneficial to cut the ends off. It helps seal the ends of your hair, especially if they are split and particularly fried. I also think that it keeps your style fresh and feeling super-soft.

Washing | After the second time bleaching my hair in just over one month, I knew that I’d need to change my shampoo and conditioner from a colour protecting focus, to a duo that focussed on hydrating. I really recommend this John Frieda duo, because the formula of the conditioner is slightly thicker than most conditioners, so you really feel like it’s repairing your hair.DAMAGED HAIR TIPS 2Post-Washing | Another tip that we’ve all heard all too often in regards to improving the condition of our hair; stay away from heat. Now I have learnt that I can’t really let my hair air dry, as it turns all too frizzy, all too quickly. So now I make sure to use a cream heat protectant, and then leave it to air dry, but once its completely dry, I straighten it, as I find that the cream heat protectant, combined with heat, actually improves the shininess and sleekness of my hair.

Touch Ups | This is actually what inspired me to share this post, because I’ve only recently learnt about these products, and the condition of my hair has been drastically improved ever since. Touch up cremes and leave-in conditioners have been around for a long time now, but I never really understood how to use them. My favourites are John Frieda’s Perfect Finish polishing serum, which is an oil, and Secret Agent touch up creme, which is like a leave-in conditioner. I love both of these products because they are applied to dried hair. This means that even if you’ve washed, air dried and styled your hair, and it’s still looking dull and dry, these products bring shine and smoothness to your hair.

That’s it for my damaged hair tips, I hope these tips help you out if you’re struggling with the condition of your hair, if not, drop me a comment and I’ll try and help you out!

Mini Lush Haul

Do you guys remember the Valentine’s Day inspired Lush Haul that I posted just before Valentine’s? Well I’ve exercised inhuman self restraint, and actually haven’t been into Lush since then. I know, that’s insane, what the heck?

Well recently I decided that it had been too long since I’d been into Lush and shared with you guys what I’d bought, so that’s what I’m doing today!

I didn’t pick up very much because I do have a lot of bath products around at the moment, so I didn’t want to go overboard.IMG_2431Ceridwens Cauldron Bath Melt | After briefly talking to the assistant in Lush, we’d established that I like baths to be relaxing and moisturising, and I wanted to try out some products that had been newly introduced since my last visit. The assistant recommended this bath melt to me because it consists mainly of oats and cocoa butter, it’s perfect for sensitive skin. This bath melt is also reusable because it’s in a cloth bag, so you can just bob it around the top of your bath, lightly infusing it with the oats and cocoa butter, and use it directly onto your skin to lightly exfoliate and moisturise, all in one go!

Twilight Bath Bomb | Even the name of this bath bomb inspires the idea of relaxation and sleep. And that’s the entire purpose of this product. The fragrance itself is another element that has been designed to help you sleep, as lavender is a soothing and relaxing fragrance, used in aromatherapy to treat insomnia and aid restful sleep. I decided to pick this one up because, although it’s not new, I haven’t used it before, so I thought I’d try it out! I’m a big fan of a lavender scent, because I do find it to be insanely relaxing, and a perfect scent for just before bed.IMG_2435Sakura Bath Bomb | It’s not secret that I love Japan and cherry blossoms, to this bat bomb was another no brainer for me to pick up. At first I thought that this bath bomb was just really pretty, but then when I smelt it, I realised that the scent was unusually uplifting and strong. Lush describes it as “Calming mimosa and jasmine oils are complemented by lemon oil and orange flower to bring to mind the smell of this colourful season.” and I think that perfectly embodies how this bath bomb smells, it’s incredibly fresh and uplifting, perfect for a bath first thing in the morning.

Yoga Bomb Bath Bomb | This is another bath bomb that I hadn’t tried before, but had been tempted by. The sales assistant told me that this bath bomb is perfect for detoxing and after working out, hence the name. And as this bath bomb is so usually overlooked, I’m going to share a little secret with you. It isn’t just an orange bath bomb. Once it begins fizzing, it actually turns your bath into an array of orange, turquoise and purple shades, so give it a go!

That’s everything I picked up in Lush, I know, you can applaud at how much self restraint I showed, ha! I hope you enjoyed this post and I convinced you to try out some products that you’ve overlooked or have been meaning to try for a long time.

What is your favourite Lush product of all time?

My Urban Decay Palette

Hey guys! Recently when perusing around Urban Decay, I decided to sign up for email and text updates, because I am what Urban Decay like to refer to as a ‘Junkie’, so naturally I want to hear as soon as something new is released, or of any upcoming offers.

The next week I couldn’t believe my luck when I received an email that said I could get a Nirvana palette, and 2 eyeshadow shades for reviewing! I was so excited to have a palette with shades that I had personally selected, I decided to purchase the other 2 shades in order to complete my very own unique palette, and tell you guys all about it!

So here it is! (Shades from left to right, top to bottom)

IMG_2441Freelove I knew I wanted an orange shade for this palette, as I’ve been raving about them so much lately, and I love wearing them, as I feel that they really compliment my skin-tone and eye colour. This shade is the closest to an individual orange pigment that Urban Decay do, and it blends beautifully into any brown or pink tones.

Cosmic I initially picked up this shade because I wanted a nice white shade to brighten the inner corners, but as I picked this one up, I was told that it’s actually a ‘Moondust’, which means that it’s the shimmer side of any shimmer-based eyeshadow. This means that it’s perfect to put on top of any matte shade, to make it shimmery. It does also work wonders on the inner corners and brow bone, to lighten and act as a highlight. It’s one of my favourite products of all time because you can use it as more than simply an eyeshadow. And to be entirely honest, as soon as I heard ‘Moondust’, I knew that I’d be letting the team down if I didn’t include it in my own palette.IMG_2443Sin | After selecting Freelove, I thought that it could be nice to find a shimmer-based brown shade that could compliment it, if ever I wanted to create a dual toned eye look. I was recommended Sin, and I think that I couldn’t have a more complimentary shade. Just like Freelove, it’s also a really nice pigment to wear on its own, and is suitable with just about any other neutral tone that you can imagine.

Polyester Bride | I did still want a basic white shade for the inner corners because with other eye looks I might want more of a flat white shade, and not just a light dusting of shimmer. This particular shade is still really pretty, and definitely compliments any others that you chose to wear.

IMG_2448
(swatches from top to bottom) Freelove, Sin, Polyester Bride, Cosmic

Just like all Urban Decay eyeshadows, these pigments all blend incredibly easily into one another, and are soft and creamy. I chose these shades because they do create a nice look when used altogether, but they are also wearable individually for a statement look.

I can’t recommend making your own palette enough, because it’s fun picking out the exact shades that you want, instead of buying a pre-made palette that has some shades you love, but some that you know you’re never going to wear. The palette itself is also reasonably sized, so you can even pick out 4 totally different pigments that you love from other palettes, and put them into a small, travel-perfect one!

I’d love it if some of you guys picked up these shades too, I’ve decided to call this particular amalgamation of shades ‘Orange Eclipse’, so let me know if you make this palette too!

Boutique Of Molly: Spring Fling

Hey guys! Now as many of you know by now, I love a good dress. I’ve loved wearing dresses for so long now that I can’t even express how much I love them, I just do.

So during a Twitter chat one night, you can imagine my absolute joy when Boutique of Molly contacted me, asking if I’d like to review some of their clothing.

I immediately dashed (can I say dashed? I clicked furiously) onto their site, and browsed through to see what they had to offer, and immediately fell in love with 2 dresses in particular. (Well ok I fell in love with about 5, but I didn’t want to test my luck.)

Boutique Of Molly is a really fun and unique brand, that aim to offer celebrity-inspired styles, at affordable highstreet prices. I personally love that brand new styles are added daily, so it’s fun to check out the site each day and see what new styles have been added!

So today I’m showing you guy the two gorgeous dresses that I was kind enough to receive!

ezgif.com-optimize‘Lilia’ Dress

As soon as I saw this dress, I knew that it had to be mine. It fits in with my girly style perfectly, and as we all know, if there is a skater style dress covered in flowers, I’ve got to have it.

However, I chose this dress because I thought that it is quite unique. I do have a lot of skater dresses with floral patterns on, but they are usually coloured dresses with a black floral print on, whereas this is a really bright and vibrant tulip pattern on a crisp white dress.

I also love the straps, as they split into two smaller spaghetti straps as they reach up to your shoulders, giving this dress a fun, flirty summer vibe.

I was really happy with the quality of this dress, as I think I’d gotten too used to how Primark and New Look dresses feel, so when I felt this dress, it felt like a nice high-end quality dress. It’s made of scuba-like material, meaning that you never need to iron it, and it sits beautifully when you’ve got it on.

ezgif.com-video-to-gif‘Rosa’ Dress’

A bodycon dress?! That I like?! Boutique of Molly have actually done it, and created a bodycon dress that I enjoy wearing, and feel comfortable in. Don’t get me wrong, not everyone is going to love this dress as I do think you’ve got to feel comfortable with it really hugging your curves.

It’s obviously a plunge neck dress, but with a magical metal insert in the V, that gives you a lot of hold, so you can feel confident wearing this dress without a bra. I tried wearing this dress with a strapless bra, but it was visible through the plunge, so I would recommend wearing it without one at all. Don’t worry, with the combination of this scuba material, and the V, you’ll be guaranteed support.

The straps are so thin and delicate that I think really adds to the luxury feel of this dress, and makes it perfect for summer events. It’s also quite a modest length, so you don’t need to worry about showing too much skin.

Both of these dresses feel amazing on, and I love them. They are definitely of a higher quality than any other dress I own (apart from my prom dress, ha!) but are still pretty and modest enough to wear casually.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and have a cheeky look through Boutique of Molly’s site, to see if there’s anything that you like, I can’t recommend them highly enough, shipping was so speedy, and the service was absolutely lovely.
