Perfume Picks

*This post was requested by Luxe Brands, with perfume compensation.

Hey guys! I recently mentioned on Instagram that I couldn’t believe that I’d never written a post about perfume, because I have quite a collection!

So today I’m going to give you a run through my favourites!

IMG_1913Katy Perry’s Meow! | This is my favourite year-around perfume because it is quite light. The most prominent scents are jasmine and vanilla, which keep this perfume sweet and fruity, but it’s not strong or overwhelming. Plus look at how cute the bottle is, I mean it’s a cat, c’mon. I think it’s suitable for day or evening wear!

Zoella’s Let’s Spirtz! | I wanted to mix this post up by including some body mists too, and this one is one of my summer favourites. I think that Zoella Beauty got it really right with this body mist, because it’s a lot stronger than most body mists, I’d definitely class this as more of an affordable perfume. The notes of raspberry and cassis are quite strong, so this is much more of a daytime summer fragrance for me.

Ariana Grande’s Ari | This perfume is really unique, with sparkling fruits and an ultra-feminine floral scent, spun with musks, woods, and a hint of marshmallow. I do really like wearing this perfume, and again it is suitable to be worn year-around, day to night, but the marshmallow tones means that with frequent wear, it does smell a bit too sickly.

Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle | This is actually an oriental fragrance, but it is still surprisingly fresh. Unfortunately because of the overwhelming tone of fresh orange, I can’t wear this perfume very often because it is really strong (and people tend to love or hate it.) It also contains light accords of jasmine and rose, which adds to the overall freshness of this perfume. I tend to reserve it for when I’m going out now, because it’s a long-lasting perfume, guaranteed to last through the night.

IMG_1918Ted Baker’s Body Mist | This body mist is actually the reason I picked up a Ted Baker gift set back during the Christmas period. This is my favourite body mist to wear, because it’s main notes are grapefruit and mango. These, teamed with subtle floral notes of neroli and jasmine, makes this another suitable scent for every occasion, all year around. I just wish it wasn’t so water based, so it could last longer.

Beyonce’s Heat | This perfume really lives up to all of the saucy advertisement surrounding it. It’s super sexy, perfect for wearing in the inescapably warm summer evenings. I can’t do this scent justice, so I’ll leave you with the description from the site, “Heat is a floral, fruity, woody perfume that features rare, sensual flowers and is both feminine and irresistible.”

Katy Perry’s Killer Queen | This self described ‘floriental fragrance’, contains notes of dark berries and lush plum that ‘blend into an opulent floral heart.’ It then blends into an intoxicating background of precious woods and sensual musk. This is no doubt, a highly unique fragrance, again I think it’s a more of an evening fragrance, just because it’s deeper than most scents.

Katy Perry’s Purr | In an online survey, people voted this fragrance as a Spring daytime perfume, and I think it’s mainly down to its main notes of forbidden apple and green bamboo. It maintains itself as a girly and wearable fragrance, with the heart of jasmine, pink freesia and Bulgarian rose.

That’s it for my top perfume picks, I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Let me know in the comments what your favourite all time fragrance is!

Don’t Censor The F Word.

I have been so lucky my entire life, to have been surrounded by inspiring and strong women. I’m even luckier to know what feminism is, and to have so many feminists in my life. But unfortunately, there are still people that don’t know what feminism really is, and what it means to call yourself one. So today, I thought I’d give you all a little insight into what it means to me, and why it’s so important.

I get my definition from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s TED Talk:

(Brought to my attention by Beyonce’s Flawless)

FEMINIST: A PERSON WHO BELIEVES IN THE SOCIAL, POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC EQUALITY OF THE SEXES.

Now obviously, with my mention of all of the strong women I am surrounded with, this isn’t helping the misconceptions that surround feminism. Feminism is not the hatred of men, or the belief that one sex is better than the other. It’s all about equality. Even today, in 2015, there still exists inequality between the sexes. Feminism is simply the want for equality. Unfortunately in many cases, women are not receiving the same treatment as men, and we want this to change. But that does not mean that we are not also here to support and fight for equality for men in situations where they are not receiving it.

For example, a feminist will want equal pay for men and women that have the same job, all the while, also wanting a man to be able to wear what he wants, for example makeup, or stereotypically ‘female’ clothes, without being shamed and called names.

It really is a shame that we are having to petition and bargain for equality even today, but I really do believe that one day we will all be living in the world that a feminist envisions. Every person will be treated equally, because that’s what we are, we are all people; there should be no discrimination; we should be valued as individuals, not based on our gender.

You can be a feminist, and still be straight. You can be a feminist and be a masculine man. You can be a feminist and enjoy when a man compliments you. You can be a feminist and have physical limits.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE, A GAY, BUTCH, MAN HATING WOMAN THAT NEVER ASKS FOR HELP FROM A MAN.

If you believe that the sexes should be treated equally, you’re a feminist.

I am more than happy to be a strong young woman, who stands up when I care about something. I own who I am, and I think all women should not be afraid to do the same.

I would love it if only one person changes their mind about feminism because of this post. I’d be even prouder if someone considered themselves a feminist because this has opened their eyes. Let me know what feminism means to you, and who your influencers are.

May Favourites

Over the past two months I’ve been trying out some new products, and returning to some of my previous favourites, so I’ve gathered them all together to share with you today!DSCN0206Fairy Lights | I’ve been searching for new fairy lights ever since I encountered a bit of a problem with my last ones… (heated up… melted things…) and I’ve been without any for quite a while, so this month after finding these at a very good price, I grabbed them, and can confidently say they are much safer and a perfect addition to my room.
DSCN0205 Rimmel London Scandaleyes Eyeliner | I recently ran out of my trusty Rimmel London Professional Liquid Liner, and when I went shopping for a new one, I thought I’d try out something new, and I absolutely fell in love. I can get along just fine with a liquid liner, but this felt tip makes everything so much quicker. I adore it.

Lush Karma Bubble Bar | I have previously mentioned all of the reasons I love this bubble bar in my Lush Haul, and I have been continuing to repurchase and love it this month. I’m so glad I was enticed by the gorgeous orange colour, because it really is a relaxing and luxurious addition to my bath.

Yankee Candle ‘Soft Cotton’ | This one needs even less explanation. It’s my favourite scent, in a trusty little candle. Perfect to have in any place, in any room.

DSCN0195DSCN0203 Moon Necklace | A few weeks ago, while at the All Things Vintage & Lovely event in Plymouth, I saw this gorgeous necklace at one of the stalls. At first I resisted, but I knew when I revisited the stall that it was meant for me, and was assured that it was “very you”, so I grabbed it before someone else saw it.DSCN0198 Rimmel London ‘Lose Your Lingerie’ #203 | I prefer lighter colours on my nails, so in order to change it up from plain white all of the time, I occasionally go for a very light hint of pink, and this shade is just perfect.

Baby Lips Dr. Rescue | This month I gave into the hype and picked up a Baby Lips lip balm, I admit I just chose a plain one to give it a go, but it turns out a chose one with menthol in it, so it is even better for your lips! I’ve been addicted to it ever since buying it.DSCN0197

Nivea 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water | A little while ago I had a bad reaction to makeup removal wipes, so I’ve had to be extra careful with how I remove my makeup, simply sticking to water and a face wash. But this month I was determined to find something good for my skin that I could use. After finally discovering this product, I cannot sing its praises enough. It’s unscented and contains absolutely no alcohol, so it’s perfect for those of us with sensitive skin. And as it’s 3 in 1, if you don’t have the time or energy in the evening for a full blown skincare routine, this is the perfect product as it removes makeup, cleanses and moisturises – something which no other products do.

Beyonce Heat | And finally, this month I wanted to change up my perfume, so I went back to my trusty Beyonce ‘Heat’. It always reminds me of summer and you instantly get a Beyonce vibe when you use it, so what more reason do you need to love this scent?!

There are all of the things I’ve been loving these past months, have you rediscovered a product you used to love? Let me know in the comments below!

Free Spotify Playlist

It’s finally here.

DSCN0299

I’ve been working on this for a little while now, and I can safely say I think I’ve covered all of my favourite jams. Some of these songs are quite personal to me, and others are just tunes that I really enjoy listening to, and get me up and dancing.

I thought creating and sharing a playlist with you guys is fun because you get to know me a little bit better by seeing what type of music I enjoy. Of course I know that it won’t be to everyone’s taste, but that’s fine because music is all about expressing yourself, no one else.

DSCN0314

This leads me onto reminding you guys to never do something because everyone else is, or to listen to something everyone else is, or and this is the worst, not listening to what you enjoy because it’s not to someone else’s taste. Music is about self-expression. We listen to music that resonates with us, that expresses the emotions we don’t understand, or don’t know how to express ourselves, and get us through tough times by assuring us that we are not alone in what we feel.

I’ve said it before, but we are so fortunate to live in a world where people can be creative through music, and share their creativity with the world. Music is everywhere, in everything, and I couldn’t be happier with that.

So without further adieu, here is my playlist. I may continue adding to it, or I may make this a feature and bring you guys a monthly playlist post, who knows. In the meantime, do enjoy.

Do you have Spotify playlist that I can follow? I love discovering new music, so link it below!

I’d also like to mention that it appears the first song on my playlist is Shake It Off by Taylor Swift, it appears every time I link to the playlist. I’m unsure if this is a random fault, but I cannot correct it myself.
