BLOGMAS Day 24 // Lady Writes Secret Santa

Hey guys! As we’re nearing the end of blogmas, I thought I would share with you all my experience with a bloggers secret santa!

So this year the lovely Lady Writes hosted a secret santa, and I couldn’t wait to get involved! Not only did I get paired up with a brand new blogger to discover and learn all about, but it meant that I would get an adorable little package from another blogger too!

So here’s what I got from my blogger secret santa! IMG_0425This card is just too adorable. I love that it’s fun and playful, and not your average Christmas card, so we’re already scoring the highest points, Santa.IMG_0419The gifts themselves are all so incredibly thoughtful and exactly what I love! Naturally, the selection of face masks immediately made me the living embodiment of the heart-eyes emoji. I’m a real sucker for face masks, and I recommend them to everyone, so having some more to add to my collection is amazing.IMG_0421Next there’s a real wink towards my love for doing my nails/nail art. Santa really got it right here too, the Maybelline Colour Show duo is actually something I’ve never seen before, but I am obsessed with them. And the Nail Design DIY Stamp Kit is so unique, I can’t wait to play around with it and put some new designs together.IMG_0422I cannot tell you guys how long I’ve wanted a slim perfume that fits perfectly into any bag, be it a backpack or a clutch, and not take up a ridiculous amount of room. This Pure Blush perfume is what I’ve been looking for, but could never find it for myself, again Santa, you’re amazing. Plus it smells so pretty and lightly floral, it’s a definite favourite scent of mine.IMG_0423And finally, something I never would’ve picked up for myself, but I actually love it quite a bit. This St Tropez body lotion is tinted, but washes out, so if you’re going on a night out, but don’t have time/don’t want to commit to a spray tan or a sun bed, this is perfect for you! It gives you an all over glow and is actually really moisturising! I can’t believe how much I’ve grown to enjoy it!

I was so excited to get involved with this secret santa, and the whole experience really was so exciting and fun, I can’t wait for next year to participate in even more!

That’s it for what I got from my Lady Writes Secret Santa, you can check out her blog HERE, I’d like to quickly thank her again for hosting something so fun and exciting, and I’ll see you guys tomorrow for the last day of Blogmas!

BLOGMAS Day 23 // Christmas Day Outfit Inspiration

IT’S CHRISTMAS EVE EVE!!! Can you guys believe it? Of course you can, it’s practically been Christmas on my blog for 23 days now.

Since we’re only 2 sleeps away, today I wanted show you guys what I’ll be wearing for Christmas this year!

Obviously we start out with PJs, so I’ll be rocking these rather festive joggers with an ordinary t-shirt. (Don’t want to overdo the Christmas cheer first thing in the morning do we?)morning xmas outfitNext we’re onto the epitome of Christmas day. Well, maybe not the epitome, but it’s certainly a massive part of it, the Christmas jumper! I’ve thrown mine on with one of my wardrobe staples, a black skater skirt, some thick black tights (it is still Winter after all!) my antler headband and black brogues. day xmas outfitNow for many of us, the outfits stop there, hell, for some of us the outfits more realistically stop at the PJs, but I wanted to put together a ‘dressier’ option, for those of us that are attending any parties, just going out for the evening, or even if you just want to dress up for dinner with your family.

So for this look, I’ve kept my skater skirt, but added a sparkly halter neck crop top and swapped my tights and brogues, for the most sparkly heeled boots imaginable.evening xmas outfitWouldn’t you agree? I adore these shoes but they are truly made for the festive season, and to be shown off at parties.xmas outfit shoes

Those are my 3 outfits for Christmas day, let me know in the comments below what you’re up to on the big day, and if you’ll be dressing up or if you’ll be staying in your PJs all day long!

BLOGMAS Day 22 // Christmas Hairstyles

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE EVE EVE EVERYONE! Ok, maybe that’s a bit of a long shot, but I can definitely feel the Christmas spirit in the air now (never has a sentence reminded me so vividly of Phil Collins…) but today I thought I’d show you guys some of my favourite hairstyles for the festive/party season!

xmas hairstyles 2Cute Half Up | This hairstyle is so cute, and one of my favourites. It’s so simple to achieve, especially if you have naturally curly hair! All you have to do is part your bangs to one side, and take the top section of your hair and secure it in a ponytail, then tie a ribbon around the hairband and you’re done!xmas hairstyles 3Messy Pony | This hairstyle is another one of my favourites, and again, perfect for if you’ve got naturally curly hair. Instead of a typically sleek and ‘perfect’ ponytail, this one is messy and playful. Just throw your head upside down and collect all of you hair into a very high ponytail, then tie a piece of ribbon around it.xmas hairstyles 1Half Up | This style is my most-worn hairstyle, but to make it fitting for Christmas, I’ve paired it with my antler headband from New Look! Again, just part the top section of your hair, going diagonally up from behind your ear, gathering all of the top section of your hair, including your bangs this time, and secure it in a ponytail, and you’re done!xmas hairstyles 4Fishtail | This style is really pretty, and once you’ve learned the technique, you can actually achieve it in almost no time at all! I’ve actually got an entire post on how to fishtail braid HERE and a quick ‘Faux-fishtail’ hack HERE. All I’ve done here is a regular fishtail, and secured it with a pink ribbon which I’ve tied into a bow!

Those are my top 4 hairstyles for the festive season, I hope you guys enjoyed them, let me know which one is your favourite in the comments!

BLOGMAS Day 21 // A Christmas Walk

Can you guys believe that the week of Christmas is here?! This month has definitely gone by a lot faster than any other month this year!

As hopefully we’ve all got our shopping well out of the way, bought all of the food that the shops have available, and prepared our Christmas jumpers for the big day, today I thought we could all take it easy, sit down and relax and I’ll just share with you some pictures from a walk myself and my brother took recently.

IMG_0310IMG_0311IMG_0314IMG_0330IMG_0328Is this walk not Christmassy enough for you? Don’t worry, my hat is a Christmas tree.IMG_0329So that was a little insight into myself and my brother auditioning for the next biggest boyband. I hope you enjoyed!

Are you enjoying the Christmas spirit? Or are you frantically trying to get last minute gifts? Let me know in the comments!

BLOGMAS Day 20 // Christmas Nail Art

I’ve loved nail art for years now, so naturally whenever an occasion comes around, I like to have multiple options for what I can do with my nails. So today I’m showing you guys 4 of my top picks for nail art during the festive/party season!

IMG_0285I think this design is geared towards someone who wants to dress up their nails, but doesn’t want to go overboard with an intricate or cutesy design. This look is definitely more toned down and sophisticated.

All you have to do to achieve this design is paint your nails with a base coat, then apply whatever colour you’d like, wait for that to dry, then apply a top coat, and once that’s dry as well, using a glittery nail polish, just apply one single sweep in each direction on the tips of your nails.

IMG_0296This design might be my favourite Christmas one of all time! I love the a classic cherry-red at this time of year, and with the Maybelline Colour Show ‘Let It Snow’ set, you can add a sprinkling of snow over the top! Obviously you can switch up the base coat to your favourite colour, or whatever matches your outfit/accessories, but I love this classic look.

All you need to achieve this design is the Maybelline Colour Show set. Simply paint your nails with the base coat, wait for it to dry completely, then add the top coat, and you’re done!

IMG_0303A Christmas classic for me. Every year I like to break out the candy-cane nails at some point, so here they are! I love this design because it’s so cute and kitschy, looks amazing and impressive, but takes no time at all!

To achieve this look, you need a quick-drying white colour, I used the Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine polish, wait for it to completely dry, then with a red/pink nail art pen/fine brush, sweep across your nails in straight lines to achieve the look of a candy-cane. Try to alternate between thicker and thinner lines too.IMG_0304.jpg

And finally, if you want to express your love for the holidays, but you aren’t overly confident when it comes to painting your nails/doing nail art in general, then at this time of year there are always glue on nails that you can try out! This design is really cute, and takes about 5 seconds to glue a nail on.

These nails were from Primark, and were only £1!

That’s it for my Christmas themed nail art choices for this year, let me know which design is your favourite!

BLOGMAS Day 19 // Home-Made Mince Pies

I know it’s really easy to pick up a pack of mince pies in just about supermarket at the moment, but this year I thought it’d be fun to give making them myself a go. They’re actually really quick and easy to make if you pick up a jar of mincemeat, so here is the recipe I followed to make home-made mince pies!

IMG_0269

Ingredients:

450g plain flour

250g unsalted butter

lemon zest

150g icing sugar

2 egg whites

milk

Method:

To make the pastry:

Place the flour and butter in a food processor, give it a quick burst at high speed to reduce it to a crumb-like consistency.

Then add the lemon zest and icing sugar and give it another quick burst.

Finally add the egg whites and enough milk to bring the dough together. Wrap it in cling film and chill for 1 hour or overnight.

To make the mince pies:

Preheat the oven to 170°c (fan) /190°c/gas mark 5. Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured worktop and, using a fluted pastry cuter, cut out circles to fit fairy-cake racks.

Place in the tins and fill with 1 heaped teaspoon mincemeat.

Roll the trimmings and cut out shapes slightly smaller than the pie diameter and lay one in the centre of each pie.

Bake for 15 minutes until the pastry is pale gold. Leave to cool, then dust with icing sugar and remove from the tins.

They can be served warm, about 20 minutes out of the oven, or reheated for 5 minutes at 150°c (fan)/170°c /gas mark 3.

It really is as quick and simple as that, so I would wholeheartedly recommend giving these a go, because you can show off your baking skills, with minimal effort!

BLOGMAS Day 18 // Festive Socks With Dorothy Perkins

Hey guys! As Christmas is officially only A WEEK TODAY, today I’m joining forces with none other than Dorothy Perkins to share with you guys their Christmas sock collection!deesjuan.gifSo starting out, this year, Dorothy Perkins have really gone all out with their cosy socks, even down to gift-ready packaging! These particular socks are now one of my all-time favourite socks, because of the adorable reindeer that sits on the side! They are also super fluffy, and light pink with white hearts. Perfect for wearing on Christmas morning!festive socks with dorothy perkins 1Also, Dorothy Perkins currently have a 3 for £6 sale on, meaning you can pick up 3 (or 6, or 9!) sets of the most gorgeously Christmassy socks available, just in time for the big day!

I went for a classic Santa/reindeer combo, an adorable pug present pair, and a less in-your-face pair, that just have an adorable little frill at the edges. I chose these too because they can see you right through the year! I love pairing socks like these with little boots or lace up shoes, so you can see the frills over the top.festive socks with dorothy perkins 3And finally, these socks, which to me, win the most adorable packaging of all time. I was drawn to these socks, because they are in a bauble style case, with a glitter bow and a star that says “Wish upon a star”. Do socks come in cuter packaging? I think not. And they’re dark blue with stars on, so it’s safe to say I am now set with cosy socks forever.festive socks with dorothy perkins 2Just kidding, there’s no such thing as too many fluffy socks.

That’s it for today’s post, thank you so much to Dorothy Perkins for working with me for this post! You can check out all of their Christmas deals HERE. Can you guys believe it’s only ONE WEEK until Christmas day?! Let me know how you’re counting down the final week in the comments!

BLOGMAS Day 16 // Christmas Themed Nail Polishes

WELCOME TO BLOGMAS DAY 16! Today I thought I’d take you guys through my favourite nail varnish shades for this time of year/the festive season in general. So here are my top picks for nails at Christmas time!BLOGMAS Christmas Nail Polishes (1)BLOGMAS Christmas Nail Polishes (2)Maybelline Colour Show | Let It Snow | This little duo kit is so perfect for this time of year, because you get a gorgeously festive red, and what may be one of the greatest inventions in the realm of nail varnishes: a snowy top coat. Of course you can switch up the base coat to whatever shade you like, but this top coat is amazing, turning your nails into a gorgeous snow flurry.BLOGMAS Christmas Nail Polishes (3)Barry M | Gelly Nail Paint | I love these two shades in particular when it comes to this time of year, ‘Plum’ & ‘Watermelon’ because the dark green reminds me of Christmas trees, and the purple is so deep and gorgeous that I simply can’t resist it, do I need more of a reason to love it?! I find that this time of year is absolutely perfect for incorporating darker tones on your nails, which is a lot coming from me, because as I’ve mentioned before, I love light colours on my nails all year around.BLOGMAS Christmas Nail Polishes (4)Rimmel | 60 Seconds Super Shine | I also love these three colours at this time of year, (well technically I adore ‘White Hot Love’ and ‘Lose Your Lingerie’ all year around) but I’ve recently discovered ‘Black Cherries’, and I’m so glad I decided to give it a go. It’s the deepest cherry red colour you can imagine, dries insanely quickly, while still remaining as pigmented as it appears in the bottle.BLOGMAS Christmas Nail Polishes (5)Maybelline | Colour Show | I’ve mentioned this nail varnish in my previous favourites,as it’s perfect for this time of year, with it’s beautiful rose-gold tones and glitter! Just like the Rimmel 60 seconds varnish, this one dries quite quickly, and gives you a colour just like it’s presented in the bottle, none of that weaker toned rubbish that some glittery varnishes can give you.BLOGMAS Christmas Nail Polishes (6)New Look | Pure Colour | Finally, I also really like this varnish for this time of year, because it’s a slightly different take on your average Christmas-themed nails. I usually like to go for a silver, but this varnish is a glistening black and gold combo, which I think is perfect for a slightly more sophisticated Christmas nail look, if you don’t want to go for anything overly festive and outrageous.

That’s it for my Christmas themed nail polishes, let me know if you’ve tried any of these out before, or if you’ve got a go-to Christmas nail polish that you’re currently wearing!
