I don’t know how it happened.
One day I woke up, and the entirety of my desk was hidden.
Hidden underneath a sea of eyeshadow palettes.
So in order for them to give me my desk back, I bargained with them. They wanted their own post, so here it is.
I’m going to talk you through 80% of my eyeshadow palette collection.
Soap & Glory’s Perfect 10
I did all I could to get my hands on this palette. As soon as I saw it online, I tried to order it, and it was out of stock. I thought I was out of luck because it was limited edition, so I checked every Boots that I could, and none of them stocked it in-store. Just as I was about to give up, a very helpful Boots employee ordered in to be delivered to my local Boots for me.
I’m so glad I got this palette because I hadn’t tried any Soap & Glory makeup before (I know, I was missing out!) and I had heard great things. I was very surprised at how affordable this palette was, especially considering that it was limited edition. I love the shades, as a lot of my eyeshadow palettes are quite similar, but the shades ‘Damsel‘ and ‘Plumtious‘ are unlike anything else I own, and ‘Toasty‘ is a perfect all over lid or focussed crease matte.
Urban Decay’s Naked 3
Purchasing this palette was my first ever makeup splurge, and I had never felt such excitement over buying an item of makeup. The Naked 3 had been my favourite of all of Urban Decay’s palettes, and I felt that the others were quite plain and reasonably monotone, but this rose-gold infused shimmering and matte goldmine had me looking like the emoji with hearts for eyes.
You don’t need me to tell you that this palette is incredible, but I’ll quickly do it anyway. The formula of every damn shade is so creamy (yes even the matte shades!) and every colour can be blended together seamlessly. This palette gives you everything you need to simply brighten your eyes, create a shimmery pink eye, or a dark smokey eye with glints of rose-gold.
Makeup Academy’s Heaven & Earth
This was one of the first eyeshadow palettes that I had. I actually really loved it because it reminded me of some of the shades in the Naked 3, but at a much more affordable price. Again, every shade can be blended together to make an endless amount of smokey eye looks. With this palette, all of the shades are surprisingly creamy (I expected them to be powdery, but they’re really not.) and leave practically no fall out at all when applied to the lids.
Collection’s Little Mix
Before I had decided to make the commitment to the Naked 3, I had stalked it for ages, and realised that my favourite shade was ‘Trick’, and this insanely affordable palette from Collection featured 2 shades that were so similar to ‘Trick’ that I couldn’t pass it up. I was also impressed by just how dark the black shade was in this palette, as many drugstore palettes can lack intense pigmentation, but this one proves true one the eyes, to how they look in the palette.
Barry M’s Natural Glow 2
Another one of my first ever palettes, I’ve actually held onto this one because these shades are well pigmented, and when used together, can give a really light and bright, almost dreamy look to the eyes. I also really like that it includes a concealer shade, so once you’ve created your eye look, you can clean it up and make it super crisp.
Makeup Revolution’s Fortune Favours The Brave
I AM SO GLAD I FINALLY GOT THIS PALETTE. Apologise to everyone in Tavistock, yes I did take the last one, soz. Just look at these shades, do you blame me for lusting after this palette for as long as I did? Do you blame me for grabbing this and running to the till before anyone else in the store saw it? This palette really is so unique, I’ve never seen beautiful peach shades, fade into magnificent blues, to browns, pastel pinks and then purples.
So many of these shades remind me of planets, or just beautifully blended cocktails of eyeshadow dreams. I even love the packaging of this palette, it’s matte and feels so lovely. The shades are again, nicely creamy, easy to blend and compliment each other really well. I’m not crazy, this palette is a dream.
Makeup Revolution’s Beyond Flawless
Exactly my type of palette. Rose-gold tones? Yup. Blendable and complimentary neutrals suitable for daytime and nighttime wear? Yup. This was one of my first purchases from Makeup Revolution, as I didn’t want to go too bold with the shades, but I couldn’t argue with the price, as it included 32 gorgeous shades.
Makeup Revolution’s Eyes Like Angels
Once my eyeshadow collection had just started taking over half of my desk, I realised that I wanted some really vibrant and unique shades, as opposed to the usual rose-gold, pink and brown neutrals that I already had. And therefore I grabbed this palette. Once more I was really happy with the amount of shades you get for your money, alongside me already being impressed by the creamy formulation of Makeup Revolution’s eyeshadows.
Makeup Revolution’s Advent Palette
I’ve searched the entire Internet for this particular palette, but I can’t find it. I assume it was a special palette for the Makeup Revolution Christmas advent calendar last December, because no other palettes have this particular combination of shades. Once more these shades are really creamy and easy to blend. I also really like that the pigmentation of this particular palette can be built up, which I think is perfect for palettes like this that include slightly more ‘unnatural’ shades, like bright pink and green, which is perfect if you’d like to experiment with these shades, but for them to not be overdone and harsh.
Urban Decay’s Alice Through The Looking Glass
The palette that everyone has been talking about, and lusting after. And I completely understand why. I’m not going to give you a review right now (I’m teasing, I know) because you’re getting an entire post dedicated to this palette next week!
