5 Tips To Stop Procrastinating

With a lot of people going through deadlines and exams this month, I know that it can be a difficult and taunting time, and that at some point, you might experience yourself procrastinating. So today I wanted to share some tips that I’ve collected, on how to beat procrastination, and stay on track with your work and revision.

Set Big Goals And Small Quotas

This tip is really useful because you can start implementing it, and it doesn’t even feel like you’re working. Essentially all you have to do is work backwards. Firstly you outline your ultimate goal, i.e. Revise Maths, or, Write 3 Essays. Then you work backwards with what small quotas you can easily achieve within a short time, for example, Select 2 Units To Read, Summarise Those Units In A Paragraph, Write An Essay Plan, etc.

Pre-Commit

This point is quite an obvious one, but it does make a great difference. Instead of leaving any attempts of your work or revision until the last minute, take advantage of the time that you’re allowing to be free time, to just jot down and bookmark things that might help you when it comes down to actually getting the work done. That way you’ll save a lot of precious writing and revising time.

IMG_7748Lists

Written lists help just about everyone. This tip links into the small quotas one, because f you’ve written down small easily-achievable tasks, you’re more likely to achieve them quickly, because you get the quick reward of being able to tick it off of your list.

Redirect Your Procrastination

When you do find yourself procrastinating, try and take advantage of it. This might sound quite confusing, but why I mean is, when you’re mindlessly browsing through the Internet, and not doing what you intended to, or should be doing, redirect your attention onto something else that needs to be done, for example, clean out your emails and respond to whoever you need to. This means that when you’re running out of time on your work tasks, you’ll have eliminated other distracting things to do, so you can identify your procrastination faster, as you’ll only be able to waste time by watching cat videos.

Rewards

This is another obvious tip, but if it has been proven to work, why wouldn’t I include it?! If you are really struggling to get something done, just bargain with yourself, and decide on a reward for when you’ve completed it. You can also set up things to do with your friends after you’ve done your work, and then you have an outside independent motivation to get your work done.

Those are my tips on how to avoid procrastinating, I hope some of these tips can help you guys out! I’d also like to quickly mention that if you are going through a stressful time at the moment due to work and exams, it will all be worth it in the end. You’re working right now, for yourself in the future, and you won’t let yourself down. So keep your head up and don’t let procrastination kill your vibez.

Beginners Guide To Blogging

Hey guys! Since I started my blog (1 year and 2 months ago, dear god) a lot of people that I know have spoken to me about wanting to star their own blogs, and I really endorse setting up your own place on the internet, so today I thought I’d use my experience to give any budding bloggers a little run-down on how to set yourself up in the blogging world!

backgrounder (1)Research

Before you jump right into starting your blog (there is nothing wrong with just jumping into it, but I’m just giving you some ideas based on my own personal experience) first look at some of your favourite blogs; what is it that draws you to them and keeps you returning to read? What kind of blog names do you relate to more? Do you prefer paid themes over free ones? Do you think you’ll want to start out with your own domain? These are all really good questions to know the answers to, because you’ll feel much more confident and secure in starting out.

Pick a platform

I didn’t really do a lot of research into the various platforms available for starting a blog, but I settled into WordPress very quickly because it makes everything so easy for you. I did briefly attempt to set up my own website through Wix, but that proved far too complicated for a beginner like myself. I then tried Blogger, and it was slightly easier to use and navigate, but still not straightforward enough for me, and I found the themes to be quite boring and blocky, so I did a quick google search for alternate blogging platforms, and WordPress had the best reviews, and I haven’t looked back. Even buying my own domain was incredibly simple, you just need to set up a payment option, and you’re done! WordPress even automatically redirects to your new domain!

Think about your niche

This isn’t majorly important, because I think the best type of blogs are ones that perfectly reflect the person behind them, and we don’t all fit into stereotypical niches. So ultimately, for this point I would recommend just having an idea of the direction, tone and general layout and outlook of your online space. Do you want to keep your identity private? Would you like to cover personal and deep topics? Do you you want to post exclusively makeup reviews? Do you want to be a travel blogger? Just have a general idea of what you want to write about, otherwise you will find it difficult to get your site up and going.

Write like the wind

Finally, the best advice I’ve ever been given in relation to blogging, and the best advice I can think of giving to someone who wants to start a blog: Just start writing. I wish that I had thought about the previous points before starting out, because I did experience some starts and abrupt stops, and for an awfully long time I just put the whole blogging thing off because I had no clue about what to call my blog! But if you just start writing, you can always go back and edit posts, even delete them entirely if you want to. The important thing is to just get going, we all know that I was in such a rush to get started by the time I had finally chosen a name, that by 2 months into blogging, I had no motivation, ideas or direction, so I had only written one post.

I hope that this post has helped some of you budding bloggers out! Be sure to drop me any questions you might have in the comments below!

Did you just throw yourself into blogging or did you plan everything out before getting into it? I’d love to know fellow bloggers stories!

Guide To Face Masks

I love a good face mask, who doesn’t? But if you’ve got, like me, sensitive skin, you can be quite wary about putting anything onto your face, especially as many face masks can be quite strong and end up burning your skin.

So today I’m going to give you guys a run down to the face masks that I really like, that are also suitable for sensitive skin!backgrounder (2)IMG_1029My 7th Heaven | These are the face masks that we will all have tried, they are some of the cheapest on the market, and they have a huge  and diverse range available. Every pack has a guide in the top right corner as to what skin type they are most suitable for, but they are all so gentle, that from my experience they are all suitable for use on all skin types, but if you want a particular one geared for dry skin, or congested skin, just look for one with that in the corner. Like I said, they aren’t particularly strong, so I would recommend giving any of these a try as you’ve got so many options, from mud masks to honey peel off ones!IMG_1030Soap & Glory’s Scrub Your Nose In It| This mask is another one of my favourites because it comes in a tube, so you’ve got a lot more masks for your money, but it does contain a much stronger formula than most drugstore face masks, so I only like to use this one if my skin is completely clear, otherwise it can tend to sting, and no, that is NOT what face masks are supposed to do! As it is a bit stronger, it means that it does leave your skin feeling really new and refreshed, but I wouldn’t use it if you suffer from acne or any other skin issues.IMG_1031Azure Spa’s Collagen Woven Facial Mask | These face masks are my second-favourite to use, because they are woven, so you don’t need to worry about correctly applying them, or using too much or too little, you just open the pack and place it on your face. I find that these are much better for soothing the skin, because you’re not rubbing at it to apply the mask.IMG_1036Dead Sea Mineral Mud Mask | These masks are my absolute favourite, because they are unbelievably cheap, and with my experience, you can get two face masks from one pack, because the formula is so thick. So I’d recommend using these with friends, because you can’t really re-seal the pack once you’ve opened it, and it is a bit too much to use in one go.

That’s it for all of my face masks, I hope this little guide has helped you guys out! I did also talk about an entire brand of face masks that I recently discovered HERE, if you’d like to check those out too. Do you like using face masks? Let me know what your favourite brand is in the comments!

Notebook Obsession

Hi, my name’s Corinne and I have a problem.

WAIT BEFORE YOU LEAVE NO IT’S NOT ABOUT THAT, THIS POST IS ABOUT NOTEBOOKS DIDN’T YOU READ THE DAMN TITLE C’MON.backgrounder (1)It was a lovely day out, when I wandered into TK Maxx, and it was brought to my attention that I may have a slight obsession with notebooks. For every one that I pointed out to my pal, she very kindly reminded my that I already had 4 at home, and 3 in my basket (all of which are still entirely unused, what can I say aren’t we all intimidated by an empty notebook?)

So today I thought I’d show you guys my little collection, as a haul of sorts, with a little run down as to why I love notebooks, and why I will never stop myself from buying more.

At the end of last summer, just before the start of the school year, I decided to pick up some new school supplies to see me through the year, and one of my favourite picks was this (originally) plain lavender notebook, because it’s A5 size, so it easily fits into my backpack, but it’s still big enough for me to make notes in. I chose to decorate it with these adorable pony stickers because no amount of responsibility will make me grow up.IMG_1308This trio is one of the main reasons that I love notebooks so much, because they can be so tiny and easy to slip into any bag. I like using these for writing down advice, and just random quotes and typography that I like.

I also really like that they aren’t lined, so that gives you the little bit more freedom for doodling and just jotting down anything you fancy.IMG_1306This notebook I picked up from TK Maxx, because I didn’t have a notebook with ring binding, and these are usually the easier to write in because you can just rotate all of the pages back, meaning you don’t ruin the spine by bending the notebook. I also love the cover of this one, because I feel like it inspires me to never hold myself back, and to just create.IMG_1315This is one of my older notebooks, I picked it up in a stationery store, primarily because it’s a full A4 sized notebook, but also it’s really satisfying to use. If you’re a notebook entusiast such as myself, you’ll understand why; it’s big, it has a super-soft faux-leather covering, and the pages are thick and lined, so it’s like a good old fashioned classic journal.IMG_1316And finally these 2, both of which I also picked up from TK Maxx, again they are both A5, but the lavender one has another super-soft cover that has “Stay Classy” printed onto it in silver text, and the other is a hard-backed notebook with “Stuff I’m Likely To Forget” (how perfectly apt for a notebook am I right?!) written in a gorgeous gold font.IMG_1314

That’s it for my little notebook haul, I hope you guys enjoyed it! Do you also love a good notebook? Let me know in the comments!

A Man’s Guide To NYE

Hey guys, as it’s NYE tomorrow, I thought today we could help out the people who don’t yet know what to wear. That’s right, I’m looking at the dudes.backgrounderNow for NYE, men tend to fit into 3 categories: Those who didn’t think attire was something to stress over, those who have no clue what’s acceptable, and those who are being made to dress up (usually in a costume.)

So today I’m breaking down how to dress for a NYE event, for the dudes.

Now let’s get this out of the way first. Yes, guys, it is a special occasion, so you can’t wear the clothes you had on yesterday.

Now obviously, just as much as women do, men have their own styles and preferences when it comes to clothes, so make sure you’re staying within your comfort zone when it comes to a NYE party, you don’t want to be worrying that your shirt is too flamboyant or tight for you.DSCN2840So, bearing comfort in mind, you need to be entirely comfortable from the get-go. Now if you can’t see where I’m going with the next line, I don’t know how to put it any other way than, underwear. You don’t want to spend the entire evening uncomfortable because your underwear isn’t properly supporting you.

Now obviously, this isn’t a problem I knew about, so I don’t understand these issues, and I didn’t even know they existed until Tommy John got into contact with me.

Tommy John is a company that understands the problems that men face, and have created the perfect product to tackle any and all problems that you might face with your underwear. Now for those who still don’t understand, here’s what Tommy John are talking about.

In their own words, “Tommy John was born from the desire to fix men’s undergarments. Men’s base layers have been stuck in the Dark Ages (and in dark places). Until now. Tommy John makes modern undergarments for the modern man. Innovative design and fabric technology mean no more pulling, squishing, tangling or bunching – no matter how a man moves.”

The truth is, for NYE, a collared shirt and jeans will see you through the evening, no problems. (Unless you’re going to a black tie or fancy dress event, in which case stick to the guidelines provided, man!) The most important thing about clothing, whether you are male or female, is being comfortable. So don’t overlook the things you usually would, like underwear.
