Pancake Day Topping Inspiration

Hey guys, as pancake day is tomorrow, I thought I’d collect and share some of my favourite topping ideas for you guys to try out!

backgrounder (9)IMG_1107I love a classic lemon and sugar combo, but for this post I wanted to share some classic and newer ideas for topping your pancakes tomorrow!IMG_1127

A stack with maple syrup and sugar | This is definitely a good old fashioned topping idea. If you really want to go all out on pancake day, a hearty stack of pancakes, drizzled in maple syrup and sprinkled with sugar, is absolutely perfect for celebrating in a classic way.

Nutella and strawberries (and icing sugar) | Two beautiful foods, coming together for a beautiful day. Here I spread Nutella completely over one half of the pancake, and then folded it over to make a pancake sandwich. I’ve put the strawberries beside the pancake so you can truly appreciate the flavour of everything here, which you should, because everything here is just too delicious. I also decided to dust over the strawberries and pancakes with icing sugar, because it’s just as sweet, but a lot more ‘Instagram-able’ with icing sugar.

Whipped cream and strawberries | Again, delicious foods both individually, and together, so put them atop a pancake and you’re guaranteed to enjoy pancake day on a whole new level. Plus you know, you’ve got spare whipped cream and strawberries ready for Valentines Day, just saying.

Banana and pecan nuts | I know this isn’t your ordinary pancake topping, but it really is a tasty combo. Plus it’s really healthy! So if you don’t want to go overboard with chocolate spread or sugar, this is quite a healthy alternative.

Chocolate sauce and pecan nuts | This is obviously similar to the banana and pecan combo, but with a little naughty treat, because dude, pancake day is only once a year.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and got some inspo for your pancakes tomorrow! Check out my entire Food section of my blog HERE for more recipes!

BLOGMAS Day 14 // DIY Festive Tree Decoration

it’s the 14th of December, what? I can’t believe how fast this countdown to Christmas is going, and that in 10 days it’ll be Christmas eve!

So for my final Christmas decor-themed post, I thought I’d show you guys a really quick and super easy DIY that I found online, that you can display in any room of your choice! IMG_0019This DIY is so quick and simple, that anybody could give it a go and it’ll look cool. All you need is some paper/card, decorative wire, and a branch!

Simply start out by cutting different sized stars out of your paper/card, and poke the wire through one of the points of the stars. I used Christmas decor wire, which had these tiny silver stars attached, so that each individual star had its own smaller silver star keeping it on the branch.

Then all you have to do is wrap the wire around a place on the branch, so that your stars hangs nicely.IMG_0023And that is all you have to do! I’ve obviously got my fairy lights on this side of the room, so the branch looks even more festive placed just in front of them. I really enjoyed making this, as it’s so simple but it looks really cute in your room!

Let me know if you’re going to give this DIY a go, or if you’ve taken inspiration from any other Christmas-themed DIYs, I’d love to see what you’ve made for the festive season!

BLOGMAS Day 6 // The Christmas Tag

backgrounderHey guys, and welcome to the 6th day of Blogmas! I can’t believe how fast the days are going by this month! So since the whole reason I’m taking part in these festivities, is Christmas, I thought today I’d go through The Christmas Tag with you, hope you enjoy!

What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
Cue cheesy answer-time, but I just really enjoy people coming together and spreading happiness. I’m a sucker for kindness and anything that involves fairy lights and decorating.
What is your favourite Christmas movie/s?
The Grinch. Everything about it, nothing can top it for me.
Real tree or fake tree?
I’m quite open to both, we have both each year, and I can see where they both have their pros and cons. Fake trees are more practical and easy, but a real tree means you get the full Christmas experience, going to pick it, and the smell!
Giving presents or receiving them?
I am not going to pretend like I don’t like getting gifts, but I love knowing I’ve got something that someone will love for them, I almost can’t wait to just tell them!
Do you open your presents Christmas morning or evening?
Morning! But also throughout the day, as we see different family members through the day.
What tops your tree?
An angel in the living room, a star in my Christmas Wonderland, and a snowflake in my room.
As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
A pony. Probably every year until I was 12.
Handmade Christmas cards or bought?
Handmade. I don’t have the time to make them, but I’d definitely prefer a handmade card instead of a bought one. But I appreciate the thought, regardless of who made it!
What’s your favourite Christmas food?
Honey roasted vegetables and roast potatoes.
Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Putting snacks out for Santa and the reindeer.  Then failing to fall asleep because I’m far too excited even though I’m not even a teen any more.

That’s it for The Christmas Tag, it was really fun to answer these questions, so I definitely recommend this tag to anyone who is blogging/taking part in Blogmas this year!

How To Be Social Media Savvy

Fotor0914140618Nowadays, almost everyone you meet will have an online presence. Normally we overlook it, because it is so assumed and ordinary. But we can very often forget that while our social media accounts are for ourselves, and perhaps friends and family, but when you look into it, you’d be surprised by just how many people you don’t know can see what you post as well.

Especially when you run a blog, such as I do, you can find yourself torn between wanting to share every aspect of your life, and be completely unfiltered, but you still have to remain professional at the same time. So today I’ve complied some of my top tips for having fun on social media, and it still being primarily for you, but being savvy at the same time.

Avoid Negativity | Now obviously if you’re a blogger and you’re talking about a product, it’s always best to be honest, never lie to your readers and say you love something that you don’t. What I mean by avoid negativity is on a much more personal level. It is not professional or ever sensible to fight with someone online. It’s always better to vent to your friends or family, not online. You’ll feel better after talking to someone, and not just having a one sided conversation. Plus, you’re almost guaranteed to look back at your timeline and regret it.

Think It Through | Quite simply, when you are posting something, if you’re either wondering whether or not you should, or it’s something you’d rather not be seen by your grandmother, just don’t post it. It’s always better to stay entirely confident in what you’re posting, rather than having second thoughts either just before, or just after posting.DSCN2228Who Are You Representing? | If you are employed by a company, you’ve got to remember that you are representing them with what you post. Obviously your posts don’t have to have anything to do with your line of work, but be remember that your boss could at any time, see what you have posted. Your profile is still for you, and you have control over what you post, but refrain from posting about your ultimate lads night out the night before, and then the hangover when you’ve called in sick. Or about how much fun you’re having at on your road trip, again when you’ve called in sick.

Put In Your Hours | If you’re profile is public, and you’re posting throughout the day, if it’s a work day, it will become apparent to both your co-workers and your boss that you’re not necessarily giving your work 100% of your attention. Obviously this can go the other way with blogging, don’t oversaturate your followers. We all want people to see we’ve put a new post up, and we don’t want anyone to miss it. So it’s completely understandable to want to share it a few times throughout the day. But try to refrain from posting about it every 10 minutes, your followers will not want you to take over their timelines!

It’s Up To You | Remember that at the end of the day, your profile is yours. So if you don’t really want to be filtered or potentially embarrassed by anything you post, just make your accounts private. That way you know exactly who is looking at what you post.

Those are my tips on how to be a little bit more social media savvy, I hope you enjoyed them! Let me know if you’ve got any tips and tricks yourself in the comments!
