Tips For De-stressing

After I wrote my post on procrastination, I realised that as it is still exam and deadline season, that a lot of us will be feeling stressed and tense. So naturally I thought, why not share some tips for de-stressing? So today I’ve collected 4 tips that I’d recommend for how to de-stress, to share with you guys.

Exercise | I know everyone always says that exercise is great for alleviating stress, and we all roll our eyes and say we’ve heard it before. But the truth is that if you’re starting to feel yourself getting more stressed and tense as the days go by, it is a good idea to invest some time undoing that tension. You don’t have to go for a 5 mile run every night, in fact the types of exercise that I find are most useful for undoing knots and relieving tension, are yoga and light walks. Another benefit of walking is that you are removing yourself from the area that is causing your stress.

Socialise | Set some time aside every week (or day, if you prefer,) to spend with your friends. During this time you can easily forget about your stresses, or you can actively talk about your stress, which will help you in combating it.IMG_7767It’s not you | When you’re feeling stressed, you can find it incredibly easy to blame yourself for things not going to plan, and therefore find yourself stuck in a negative cycle. But it’s important to remember that it isn’t you, so try and give yourself some positive affirmation, it could be through doing something you’re really good at, or just taking some time to pamper yourself.

Change | If your stress is not due to exams, or other deadlines (i.e your stress has a time limit) and it’s a much more permanent part of your everyday, then it’s highly important to see what you can do to change. Be it working with different people, changing your work area, or looking for alternate work altogether. It might seem like a daunting idea, but stress is not something that people should just put up with, if it’s more permanent, you need to make a change.

Those are my main tips for de-stressing, I hope that if you’re feeling stressed that you can take something from each of these tips, and that they’ll help you out. As I mentioned, stress shouldn’t be a permanent part of your life, so don’t leave it if it is starting to affect you every day.

Thank you so much for reading this post, be sure to let me know what type of posts you’d like to see from me in the future!

The Best Pamper Night Of All Damn Time

We can all always benefit from a good pamper night. So today I’m taking you guys through the best pamper night of all-damn-time.

First things first, your attire. You’ve got to make sure you dress for the occasion. If you’re a girl, take. off. that. bra. There is absolutely no reason for you to still have it on for a pamper night, so remove that immediately. Next is a comfortable oversized shirt/pyjamas, anything that makes you feel cosy and relaxed. Then put your hair up, in any style you like, just so long as it’s out of your face, otherwise you’re going to have a mess with face masks/moisturising.

Now we move onto products and entertainment.

A big fluffy cushion | For putting your feet up, or resting your weary head, a big cushion is a must-have.

Soft blanket Again, a must-have. For feeling cosy and warm while watching tv, or wearing as a cape as you stroll to the freezer for an ice-cream.

Tablet/Phone | Whether you’re sharing your pamper night on social media, watching a movie, listening to music, or you’re just chatting to your friends.

Micellar water Just as important as bra-removal, makeup-removal. Pamper night is all about treating yourself and your skin, with a cleanse. I really recommend this particular micellar water because it’s 3 in 1, so you don’t need a strenuous cleansing routine, this even moisturises!

Face wash | The perfect thing for the aforementioned skin-cleanse. I use Garnier’s Gentle clarifying foam, because it clears impurities, clarifies skin, and removes any lingering makeup after you’ve removed it. But it’s still gentle on skin, meaning you won’t be left feeling scrubbed raw.

Bath bomb/bubble bar | Having a bath is always an essential when it comes to nights in and pamper nights. But on a pamper night you’ve really got to go all out, bubbles, bath bomb, candles and heck maybe even flower petals, because you freakin’ deserve it.

Night moisturiser Of course any moisturiser will do, but many overnight moisturisers have extra skin renewing benefits that regular ones don’t. As your skin repairs and renews itself overnight, you’ll be surprised with the difference if you moisturise before bed.

Hand cream | People all too often forget their hands when moisturising, so I’d say opt for a hand rescue cream for a pamper night.

Nail varnish | After moisturising your hands I think it’s always nice to treat yourself to a little mani-pedi. Plus having done your nails usually puts you out of action for a little while, so you’re almost forced to sit still and relax.

A suitable beverage | Whether you’re in a real need of a pamper night, and therefore your drink of choice is red wine, or you just want an accompanying comfort drink such as hot chocolate or tea, make sure you’re staying hydrated!

Candles | And finally, the best thing for setting the mood. I’m never more relaxed than when I can smell a Fresh Linen Yankee Candle. Pick your pamper nights signature scent, and away you go!

And that’s it for my pamper night recommendations, let me know if there is anything specific that you do when you’re having a pamper night!

Again, apologies for this post being released late last night, that WAS a fault, and I am still posting only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays!
