For those of us that like to wear makeup, we can quickly see that there are certain products we like to keep at hand throughout the day. So today I’m sharing with you guys my favourite makeup bag staples.
First things first, obviously a compact is a really handy thing to have in your makeup bag, otherwise carrying any additional products is entirely useless. I like to have a double compact, meaning there is a regular mirror and a magnified side.
The next staple is a moisturiser. If you suffer from dry skin, then it really helps to improve it if you regularly moisturise throughout the day. It also helps your makeup sit better on your skin, and give it a much higher lasting power.
For me, I also like to always have a pair of tweezers on me, if not for any last minute brow checks for yourself, then it’s always handy to lend to a friend if they are in need.
Naturally after tweezers, the next product is whatever you use for filling in your brows. I use a brow pencil, as it’s handy and easily portable.
A further product that I can’t even imagine leaving the house without is a chapstick. I’ve been obsessed with Babylips since I first picked up one to try out. Lately I picked up this lightly tinted one to add a little bit of colour to the lips, while also moisturising them.
Next I also like to have a natural lip look ready in my makeup bag, so I like to carry a pink lipliner along with a corresponding lipstick. My favourites are Rimmel’s Exagerrate lipliner in ‘Eastend Snob’ and Lancôme’s L’absolu Rouge in #06 ‘Rose Nu’ which I have previously spoken about in my favourites.
Finally, for the eyes I also like to always have a neutral eye look handy in my makeup bag, so I’ll always have a neutral toned eyeshadow palette on me, lately I’ve been loving Makeup Academy’s Heaven & Earth eyeshadow palette, as it covers a lot of neutral and pretty looks.
I can’t leave out eyeliner, so I’ve always got a felt liner on me, and once again recently I stumbled upon Collection’s Extreme 24 hour eyeliner, and it hasn’t left my side since. I also like to have my mascara on me just in case I need to touch it up during the day.
Obviously there are certain other tools that are always good to have handy, for me it’s an eyelash curler, travel brush, a hair tie and some bobby pins.
That’s it for today! What products can you guys not leave the house without? Let me know in the comments!
I think summer is the perfect time for bright and girly colours, so today I’m sharing with you guys some ideal products for summer, with a pink theme!
Rimmel London’s Exaggerate Lip-Liner | This lip-liner is one of the rare finds that you can apply all over you lips, but it doesn’t leave them looking overly ‘done’. It’s quite pigmented, meaning that you can leave it as all you’ve got on your lips.
Rimmel London’s Stay Blushed Liquid Cheek Tint | Again, this blush is perfect for summer because you just add the smallest amount to your finger and blend it onto the apples of your cheeks. It’s also one of my favourite blush colours of all time.
Nivea’s Raspberry Lip Butter | This. Stuff. Smells. Amazing. You can smell it instantly, once you’ve opened it. It also works wonders for your lips! I would however, highly recommend using this product sparingly, because suprisingly enough, it is very pigmented. Apply too much of this and your lips will disappear, and a very light, bright pastel pink will leave your face looking washed out.
Dior’s Lipgloss | I mentioned this lipgloss before in my Spring Inspired makeup routine, and it’s great for summer too! It’s not sticky, and has an amazing staying power, so you don’t need to keep constantly reapplying it throughout the day, again, perfect for carefree summer looks.
Gosh’s Giant Blush | This stick blush is perfect for summer, because you can just dab it on your cheeks, blend and you’re good to go! It’s also perfectly sized for your purse so it’s ready on the go.
Colourworks Lipgloss | This lipgloss is essentially the same as the Dior one, but at a much more affordable price, it also leaves a slightly more pastel-look to your lips, which is very well suited for any makeup looks where you’d prefer the attention drawn to your eyes, as it’s not distracting, but completes the look.
Those are some of my favourite pink-based products that I love for summer. Do you have a favourite colour for this season? Let me know in the comments!
Exams are all finally coming to a close, and summer is getting closer by the minute! So today I am sharing with you guys, some of my summer essentials!
So obviously for summer, you need to be more concious about what your makeup is doing for your skin. I use a moisturiser with an SPF of 15, and if you wear foundation, I’d recommend one like Rimmel’s Wake Me Up, which also has an SPF of 15.
The next essential is obviously deodorant! I opt for a 48 hour one, because during the summer you don’t want to have to constantly apply it, but you also don’t want to go without it, so I would recommend keeping an eye out for specifically 24-48 hour ones especially if you’ll be camping, and going to festivals.
Another essential that is geared toward low-maintenance and festival go-ers is John Freida’s Frizz-Ease 3 day straight. Just spray this onto damp hair, before you dry and straighten it, and your hair will remain frizz-free and straight for up to 3 days!
Sunglasses are an obvious must-have for summer time, without a question. You can even choose some reflective ones that not only shelter your eyes, but look awesome in pictures!
My next essential is a travel-friendly bottle. You’ve got to keep hydrated if you’re sitting out in the sun, or just generally travelling around, so I purchased a Sistema bottle that you can completely close, so you’re not at risk of any leaks in your bag.
And a cute little backpack, so you can have everything with you on the go! Finally, for me, nothing is easier and more suited fashion-wise, for summer, than a playsuit or a dress!
Also, some not-quite-essentials, but I think summer is the perfect time for light and bright colours on your nails, so I’m loving Maybelline’s Colour Show 60 second nail varnish in absolute white. This brand dries so quickly, they’re perfect for summer when you don’t want to spend ages on your nails but still want them to look cute, just paint and go! And also a cute headband, it’s perfect for if you don’t want to do any intricate styles with your hair, so if you’re a festival go-er nothing is better than headbands, dry shampoo and braids!
Those are my summer essentials, I hoped you guys enjoyed! Let me know in the comments below what your summer essentials are.
Over the past two months I’ve been trying out some new products, and returning to some of my previous favourites, so I’ve gathered them all together to share with you today!Fairy Lights | I’ve been searching for new fairy lights ever since I encountered a bit of a problem with my last ones… (heated up… melted things…) and I’ve been without any for quite a while, so this month after finding these at a very good price, I grabbed them, and can confidently say they are much safer and a perfect addition to my room. Rimmel London Scandaleyes Eyeliner | I recently ran out of my trusty Rimmel London Professional Liquid Liner, and when I went shopping for a new one, I thought I’d try out something new, and I absolutely fell in love. I can get along just fine with a liquid liner, but this felt tip makes everything so much quicker. I adore it.
Lush Karma Bubble Bar | I have previously mentioned all of the reasons I love this bubble bar in my Lush Haul, and I have been continuing to repurchase and love it this month. I’m so glad I was enticed by the gorgeous orange colour, because it really is a relaxing and luxurious addition to my bath.
Yankee Candle ‘Soft Cotton’ | This one needs even less explanation. It’s my favourite scent, in a trusty little candle. Perfect to have in any place, in any room.
Moon Necklace | A few weeks ago, while at the All Things Vintage & Lovely event in Plymouth, I saw this gorgeous necklace at one of the stalls. At first I resisted, but I knew when I revisited the stall that it was meant for me, and was assured that it was “very you”, so I grabbed it before someone else saw it.Rimmel London ‘Lose Your Lingerie’ #203 | I prefer lighter colours on my nails, so in order to change it up from plain white all of the time, I occasionally go for a very light hint of pink, and this shade is just perfect.
Baby Lips Dr. Rescue | This month I gave into the hype and picked up a Baby Lips lip balm, I admit I just chose a plain one to give it a go, but it turns out a chose one with menthol in it, so it is even better for your lips! I’ve been addicted to it ever since buying it.
Nivea 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water | A little while ago I had a bad reaction to makeup removal wipes, so I’ve had to be extra careful with how I remove my makeup, simply sticking to water and a face wash. But this month I was determined to find something good for my skin that I could use. After finally discovering this product, I cannot sing its praises enough. It’s unscented and contains absolutely no alcohol, so it’s perfect for those of us with sensitive skin. And as it’s 3 in 1, if you don’t have the time or energy in the evening for a full blown skincare routine, this is the perfect product as it removes makeup, cleanses and moisturises – something which no other products do.
Beyonce Heat| And finally, this month I wanted to change up my perfume, so I went back to my trusty Beyonce ‘Heat’. It always reminds me of summer and you instantly get a Beyonce vibe when you use it, so what more reason do you need to love this scent?!
There are all of the things I’ve been loving these past months, have you rediscovered a product you used to love? Let me know in the comments below!
We are officially nearing the end of January! So I thought it to be quite apt for me to share with you, the products that I’ve been loving this month. I’ve kept things quite simple because otherwise we’d all be here for a very long time and nobody wants that. So here we go!
Katy Perry’s Meow Perfume | This is such a light, cotton candy-esque scent, that I have adored since my friends bought it for me for my 17th birthday. It’s a really girly bottle (and shaped like a cat, so it’s one of the most amazing bottles ever), and the scent itself isn’t much different. I just really like this scent for this late winter/early spring time because we are moving away from the common autumnal/winter, warmer scents like gingerbread, pumpkin pie, and Yankee Candles Roast Turkey and Stuffing, and into the slightly cooler, fresher scents of spring. This perfume will have you excited for daffodils.
Argan Oil Heat Defence Leave in Spray | Now if you like to style your hair with heat, you are doing your hair a massive disservice if you are not preparing it to handle that heat. Your hair doesn’t tap you on the shoulder and tell you that it is being damaged while you’re styling it, it waits until you’ve done enough damage and simply starts to break off. So I beg of you, USE A HEAT DEFENCE SPRAY. So since we’re on the topic, this product. This product, with moroccan argan oil extract, works absolute wonders on your hair. In it’s own words, it is “Hydrating, Nourishing and Cleansing.” All you have to do is shake it and spray it generously through the main body of your hair, making sure to focus on the ends and away from the roots. Just get this spray, your hair will thank you later.
Imperial Leather’s Moisturising Face and Hand Wash | This may seem like a strange thing to include in my favourites, but if you suffer from dry skin from time to time, you’ll wonder what you were using before this product. While it can be used as just a liquid hand soap, when used in conjunction with your night time skin routine, after removing your makeup and before applying your moisturiser, this face wash is gentle on skin, containing almond oil and vitamin E. It leaves your skin not only feeling clean and makeup free, but hydrated. Preparing it to be even more grateful than usual for your evening moisturiser.
Lush’s Fresh Hair booklet | I picked this up on my way out of a short trip into Lush a few weeks ago with my pals, just because there was a stack of them to be honest. But oh my was I in for a great surprise! This handy little book not only details all of Lush’s new products, (I’m a particular fan of the Shampoo bars, you can get up to 40 washes out of one AND they are said to boost growth!) But it is filled with little tips and tricks to revive dry hair, tame unruly flyaways and how to eat right to improve the condition of your hair. (And it’s free!)
Mua’s Mega Volume Mascara | This mascara does exactly what it says on the tin (or in this case, mascara box?…) It is just not possible to be wasteful with this mascara, just a few flicks of the wand and you are good to go! Hands down, the longest and fullest any mascara has ever made my lashes look.
Collection’s Work the Colour in shade #22 ‘Lilac Daze’ | I’ve been on the lookout for a lilac nail varnish for what feels like an eternity now, so when I saw this one on sale I just grabbed it because it was a pretty shade. I have since been entirely converted to Collection Cosmetics. This varnish has a really good pigmentation, meaning I needed only 2 coats and I had the gorgeous lilac nails that I had been craving. Not to mention this brand has incredible lasting power, only showing slight signs of chipping after 6 days of wear.
Rimmel London’s Moisture Renew Lipstick in shade #360 ‘As You Want Victoria’ | Coming out of the winter months I have been adoring this lipstick. It’s incredibly pigmented, has great lasting power, only needing to be retouched after a good couple of hours and it’s moisturising! No need to be applying any other than this to your lips, it feels and looks, amazing. This shade is a girly pink but also dark and striking enough that it can be a statement on it’s own, with a simple cat-eye and nude eyeshadow tones.
Rimmel London’s Glam Eyes Liquid Liner | My. favourite. product of. all. time. This liner applies so easily. The thin brush means it lasts longer than other liquid liners, and miles longer than eyeliner pens; which tend to be much thicker, meaning your line can be too thick and you have the hassle of thinning it out and making it match the other eye. I have fallen in love with this liquid liner and I don’t see myself ever trying another brand.
That’s it from me, let me know in the comments below what you’ve been loving this month, I’d love to hear what products you’re using!
